| Our 2000th Programme Graduate | |
| 23 March 2006 Castlemilk & St Margaret Mary's participated in our Ambassador programme on 12th-17th February 2006. The academy in itself promised to be unique in many ways. Firstly, when two schools from the same neighborhood twin up to be ambassadors for the secondary schools in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow, that in itself is inspirational. Like many housing schemes, territoriality is a major challenge for communities and in particular the young people within the communities. To begin to close the divide, both St Margaret Mary’s Secondary school and Castlemilk High School are ahead of the game in doing all they can to integrate their community by welcoming diversity and focusing on the amazing potential of young people throughout Castlemilk. So you can imagine how excited our Glaswegian Columban’s were at the prospects of this fantastic opportunity. Big stuff indeed. This academy also highlighted an amazing milestone of achievement for all our team. Our 2000th graduate stepped up and received their certificate during this academy. Danielle McIlroy a fantastic young ambassador from Castlemilk became our 2000th Columban. When we informed Danielle she replied: “It feels fan dab to graduate from the programme but then to find out I am the 2000th has made me even more chuffed.” Danielle and the crew returned from Skye with dreams and hopes for Castlemilk and carried our hopes for Scotland on the back of an amazing group of staff and young people. A journey we will never forget. | |
