The Columba 1400 Ridge Walk, which took place on Saturday 23rd August was a fantastic day. Amazingly the weather held off for us all day, although at some points it threatened to rain. In total, we had 28 people walking in the end on three different walks. Everyone left individual stones that they had carried up to the top of the hill of the red fox and below the red fox and left messages in three journals that are to be passed on to whoever walks next year. A sense of fatigued satisfaction was evident when all the walkers met together that evening, where a bowl of soup and a cup of tea never seemed so glorious! Followed up by a fantastic BBQ and a sharing of photographs and stories.
Many thanks to everyone that took part and to those at Columba who put an enormous amount of energy and time into making a great day possible. We are also appreciative of the local businesses who kindly gave their financial support.
So far we have raised £2437.00 which has far exceeded our expectations. This figure will enable a young person to come up to Skye and to participate in a Young Person’s Leadership Academy.
We are hoping to hold another Ridge Walk next year; and you are warmly invited to join us. For further information please contact Columba 1400 on 01478 61 1400.
