The Princess Royal has been a great supporter of Columba 1400, and as our patron she played an important part in raising awareness of the organisation during its inception and development. She opened the centre in Staffin in 2000, and visited again in 2005 to celebrate Columba 1400's 5th anniversary.

She continues actively to support Columba 1400, and her patronage is greatly valued by us all.

The 28th July 2005 will be a day that Columbans remember for a very long time. We were honoured to celebrate our 5th Birthday in the presence of our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal together with Columban participants, graduates, supporters and friends.

Graduates from our Young Peoples Leadership Academies and Head Teacher Leadership Academies spoke to the Princess Royal of their experiences and the way Columba 1400 has touched their lives. Young people and staff from Archbishop Michael Ramsay Technology College from Camberwell in London were taking part in their Ambassadors’ Leadership Academy and put on very moving presentations about their hopes and dreams for their school to The Princess Royal and guests
