Programme Director
Anne joined the Columba 1400 team in April 2005 as Programme Director to build on and develop Columba’s schools leadership work. It’s been a bit of an adventure getting to Columba!
It was Anne’s desire to gain experience of the business world that resulted in her qualifying and practising as a Chartered Accountant after obtaining her BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology. In her UK and internationally focused leadership role at Ernst & Young she developed a deep interest in how people learn and develop. Anne took on the role of Learning and Organisational Development Senior Manager for the North Region of Ernst & Young in 1997 and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 1999.
Anne has a wealth of experience in coaching, counselling, leadership development and the growth of talent in organisations. A secondment to the role of Chief Executive at Young Enterprise Scotland, a charitable organisation that encourages young people to be all they can be, ignited Anne’s desire to work with young people in a way that they can achieve their full potential.
So to fulfil Anne’s desire her adventure took her to a part time role with an organisation that helps young people, teachers and anyone who crossed their doorstep to develop their self belief, esteem and confidence as well as working part time as a learning assistant in an Edinburgh school.
Now on board at Columba 1400, Anne is based in Edinburgh, spending one to two weeks a month in Skye leading the education focused academies and learning big time from the young, and not quite so young, people that we have the privilege to work with. The growing community of Columbans in schools around Scotland, and the ‘ripples’ of impact and influence that this is having on the lives of young people, is an area Anne and the Columban team are continuing to focus on in 2006 with the communities that are setting out to make a difference to the lives of their young people. Out of work Anne spends as much time as she can with her nephew Christopher and niece Eloise who keep her young!
