Mary was born in Bridgeton, Glasgow, left school at 16 and set off to experience life, travelling and working in various parts of the country, before settling down in Glasgow to raise her two daughters, Maria and Nicola.
Mary worked as a Civil Servant for 7 years, in banking and personnel, before changing direction and enrolling on an Access Course to Health and Social Care. This led to a job with Govanhill Social Work Department where she worked on a one-to-one basis with Alcoholics and their families until choosing a quieter life on the
Mary was Administrator in Duntulm Hotel at the North end of Skye for 3 years before moving to Columba as one of its first staff members early in 2000.
Mary’s work is mainly behind the scenes at Columba, balancing the finances! She enjoys being part of an organisation that is striving to make a positive change in a difficult world.
Mary is based at Columba's centre in Staffin.
