"I found meeting with other schools reaffirming personally, and reassuring, in that we are not alone in the challenges we face as a team. "

At Columba 1400, we believe that building a support network of graduates is invaluable to the continued growth and development of each of our new Columbans. Many graduates say that they have difficulty putting into words the experiences they shared on Skye, that “you have to experience it for yourself”. As a graduate, you will mostly likely find support and understanding from the others who went on your academy, and we would like to give you the opportunity to extend that support network beyond your school or group, into the wider community of Columban graduates.
There are a few ways you can do this.
Online community
The Columba 1400 Online Forum is open to all, be it past, present or future graduates, potential supporters, or graduates’ friends and family. You need to register before you can view the Columba 1400 forum, and there are special sections which are specific to each type of academy (for example, Young Ambassadors Leadership Academy, Coracle Programme, Head Teachers Leadership Academy, or Young Peoples Leadership Academy). These areas are open to Columban graduates and to access to these areas for the first time, you will need to go through a simple process of contacting the forum administrator once you’ve registered.
In the months following your experience in Staffin, we would encourage you to network with as many other graduates as you can, to get a sense of how your experience can grow into something so much bigger than just yourself.
Signing up is relatively straight forward, but detailed instructions are coming soon! In the meantime, if you're having difficulty, please contact Charlotte, the forum administrator, by clicking here.
Columban gatherings
Every so often, we will organise special gatherings to help you connect with other Columban graduates, and to get an idea of how to continue developing yourselves and your communities. Keep an eye out for emails and newsletters from us giving details of upcoming Columban gatherings.
Share your experience!
If you have a story which you would like to share about your Columban experience, we'd love to hear from you! It can be anything, a story, a poem, or even an update of how you've been doing since you graduated. We are always happy to hear back from our graduates, and to keep in touch with all of the amazing people who have come through our doors. We are especially interested to hear how Columba has affected the lives of our young people.
To share your story with us, please email it to info@columba1400.com.
