Programme Components

Each programme has three essential components:

Phase 1: Introduction and orientation. The Columba 1400 team and the programme participants get to know each other in a series of sessions. This process then moves into an exploration of  hopes, aspirations and the opportunity to consider how the programme will help to achieve these.

Phase 2: Residential experience. This takes place at one of our inspirational centres on the Isle of Skye or on the banks of Loch Lomond. During this intensive component, participants take part in a range of activities and experiences, underpinned by Columba 1400’s distinctive core values, alongside opportunities for reflection and planning.

Phase 3: Transitions. This component involves working with young people in their home communities or schools to build on the learning from  the residential experience and explores ways to share the learning with others. This phase can take many forms and is customised to meet the needs of participants.  It can include informal get togethers, the establishment of structured groups, further programme delivery, telephone calls and e-mails.
